Full professor of theoretical physics at the Faculty of Physics, Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznan. His main research interests are solid state physics, statistical physics far from equilibrium and biophysics. Has given courses in almost all branches of physics starting from the classical and quantum mechanics, mathematical methods of quantum theory, through the theory of solid state, equilibrium and nonequilibrium statistical physics to molecular biophysics and the thermodynamics of biological processes. Has cooperated with many scientific centres in Europe and has been appointed visiting professor at the University Paris-Nord, France, at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada and at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Belgium. The author of some fifty original research papers and two books devoted to molecular biophysics. The hobbies: philosophy, music, touring and skiing.
